ABOUT US
ABOUT US
We are the Ellipsos Quartet.
For more than twenty years, two words have guided us and sincerely sum up who we are: excellence and accessibility.
Excellence, because we are always striving to go further: in our work, our sound, our arrangements, our creations and the way we live music. We love to explore, to experiment and to challenge ourselves, without ever settling into what we already know how to do. We deeply believe that excellence can be joyful, generous and human.
Accessibility, because this pursuit only makes sense to us if it is shared with as many people as possible. On stage, above all, we seek to create an encounter: to surprise, to move, to take you on a journey, to share our joy of playing together, and to offer everyone, whether seasoned music lover or simply curious, a true musical moment.

We are four different personalities, four musicians who grew up in unison, four brothers in music. Over the years, we have learned to know one another, to trust each other and to build a collective standard without ever losing the pleasure of being together.
Since our beginnings, we have worked to help people discover the saxophone in a new light. We create, arrange, explore a wide variety of musical worlds and multiply collaborations. Classical, symphonic, gospel, popular melodies or contemporary creations: we like to open doors rather than close them. What better way to show the full richness and potential of this instrument, while helping the saxophone quartet earn the place it deserves in the chamber music landscape? Despite more than two decades spent on national and international stages, we still love to create, to meet people, to discover and to push the boundaries of our instrument.
Transmission is also part of our story: concerts, academies, workshops, masterclasses, educational projects… We love sharing our passion and opening paths for new generations.
Our ambition is simple: to make excellence a gateway to music, never a barrier.
And if, one day, the name Ellipsos evokes four passionate, demanding, accessible and deeply alive musicians who helped make as many people as possible fall in love with the saxophone, then our adventure will have achieved its purpose.

Paul-Fathi
LACOMBE
Soprano saxophone
Yanagisawa WO37GP
Musically, he pursues excellence without ever losing his taste for sharing and surprise. Curious, enthusiastic and slightly obsessive by nature, Paul-Fathi can talk saxophone for hours, but behind the demanding musician hides above all a big kid, with plenty of ideas, plenty of energy… and rarely a "pause" button!
"I put together the notes that love each other."
W. A. Mozart

Julien
BRECHET
Alto saxophone
Yanagisawa WO37GP
A sensitive and demanding soul, Julien is the "Lung" of the Quartet. He turns breath into a space of freedom and well-being. For him, breathing well is already the first step to playing well. He keeps the group's schedule and cultivates his breath with rigor, without ever taking himself too seriously!
"Alone we go faster, together we go further."
African proverb

Sylvain
JARRY
Tenor saxophone
Yanagisawa WO37GP
A free spirit and professional dreamer, Sylvain plays anything that makes noise, from the ukulele to the theremin. But when it comes to handling paperwork, he becomes as precise as a metronome!
"Why play so many notes when it's enough to play the most beautiful ones?"
Miles Davis

Nicolas
HERROUET
Baritone saxophone
Yanagisawa WO30BSB
A true craftsman of Ellipsos's sound, Nicolas is the hand of the quartet: he shapes, arranges and brings musical ideas to life. But Nicolas is also Ellipsos's touch of madness: offbeat, unfiltered and always direct. A real jester with a big heart, able to make everyone laugh… often when you least expect it!
"Creativity is intelligence having fun."
Albert Einstein
